How to Make an At-Home Office Your Own
The professional world is rapidly progressing, which allows for more work-from-home life. In my opinion, this is an awesome perk, but if you are going to take advantage of the benefits of working from home, you need an office to work out of. One of the benefits of working from home is being extremely comfortable, so you want to make this place your own. Here are a few ways that I love making an at-home office your own so that you are comfortable and productive:
The Paint Color
The paint color is essential. Make sure to find a color that you love, but you also need to consider how the color makes you feel. For an office specifically, you wouldn’t want to go with a soothing color that has the potential to make you tired. Instead, I try to go with bright and light colors such as gray, white, yellow, or my personal favorite… something in the pink family. Every person is different, however, but make sure to consider these thoughts when choosing a paint color for your at-home office.
Cozy Details
By cozy details, what I mean is scents, decor, artwork, and anything else your little heart desires. The details can make an otherwise plain room somewhere where you love spending time. My personal favorite cozy details to add to rooms is candles. Burning a candle with a clean scent in areas where you have to get work done can help you to focus, while making your office smell great! Additionally, if you have the room in your office, adding things like cozy armchairs with accent pillows or beautiful wall art can make your room a more comfortable and enjoyable place to work. This will help you be happier, and therefore more productive!
A Comfortable Desk and Chair
I don’t know about you, but when I am not comfortable, I do not get much work done. The first thing you need to consider when it comes to your comfort levels is the desk and chair that you are using. Not only do you need to have proper back support, but you need to make sure that the height of the chair and desk are suitable to make sure you are not bending over or arching your back or neck in weird positions.
Good Lighting
My favorite type of lighting to use is always natural lighting. It is the best quality, in my opinion, and makes any room seem larger and more open. If you have the option to have an office in a room with a lot of good natural lighting, do it! If this is not an option for you, make sure you still install plenty of artificial lights in your office. Some light bulbs are made to mimic natural light, which is a great option if you prefer the more natural look. A dark office will make you sleepy and less motivated to get work done. You can cater your lighting to your preferences by selecting overhead lights versus floor lamps, colored light bulbs versus natural, or bright lights versus dim lights. You will be surprised at how much of a difference a little good lighting can make!
Motivational Items
What I mean by motivational items is your certifications, achievements, and diplomas displayed for you to be reminded of how far you have come and how much you have to look forward to in the future. For example, if you had a huge accomplishment or achievement, you might want to consider getting a custom aluminum plaque to display on your office wall, to recognize that achievement and get excited for future achievements (this is also a fantastic gift idea!). East Point Foundry is a Metro Atlanta-based company that specializes in hand-crafted bronze and aluminum plaques. These plaques are uniquely-made and customized per customer, so you are always getting exactly what you want. East Point Foundry truly cares about commemorating and celebrating your precious life moments. You can choose between hand-crafted aluminum or bronze plaques, as well as nameplates, lettering (bronze, cast metal, or plastic), bronze ornamentals, castings (brass, bronze, or aluminum), and bronze sculptures. East Point Foundry has partnered with both private sector (civilian) and public sector (government) agencies, honoring achievements and accolades by institutions and individuals for over 70 years. They are very fair when it comes to pricing because they remove the middle-man, which usually ramps up the cost. You are also able to customize each individual plaque by changing the border, texture, size, and layout. East Point Foundry creates timeless pieces of art that can help you look back on your professional accomplishments, making their plaques the perfect addition to your at-home office.
